It's been pretty quiet over the summer, and I haven't posted much here or on Instagram. But a lot has been happening in the background. But first things first...

Pocket wagon 5 (T5) with new running numbers and overhaul dates available

After the first production batch sold out very quickly, which was completely unexpected for us, we immediately had the second batch manufactured. The biggest and only notable change compared to the first edition are the folding latches. These are no longer yellow, but in the body color. We were also able to improve the paintability by switching to a different material. All buyers of the first generation have since received the new folding latches from us. For the WASCOSA version, we have fulfilled the frequently expressed request to have the anti-slip surfaces at the end of the wagon contrasting gray. We have now implemented this for item numbers 531.03 & 531.04.

The following items are now available:

Krone Mega Truck Trailer

As the title suggests, the trailers were manufactured in the summer but disappeared en route from Asia to Germany. Over the past few weeks, it's been a back-and-forth with the forwarder, who first incorrectly reported the pallets to South America, but then admitted they were no longer traceable. At least we're now in the clearing process with the insurance company. A replacement production run is scheduled, meaning we're now repurposing the planned Kögel trailer production. Since all the fixtures and masks for pad printing are already in place, I'm hoping for a timely implementation. But unfortunately, this won't happen before November/December.

Now for the good things about the truck trailers. After Dortmund, we received feedback that the straps in the tarpaulins were too prominent. Unfortunately, these straps were the finest that could be technically achieved by eroding steel tools. So I rummaged through my memories to find a company that specializes in surface texturing. And there's someone in the Swabian Alb. We had a sample made here to find the right setup. Physically, we're working in the hundredths of a millimeter range. Literally, by a whisker! A tool insert with a tarpaulin cover, but without straps, was then manufactured, which was then flown halfway around the world twice by air freight to minimize material removal. The result is truly impressive. We've taken a huge step closer to our goal of creating the truck trailer without a tarpaulin or even shiny surfaces. And with the appropriate paint layer in the trailer color, the result is just like the trailer's name: MEGA!

New office including "torture chamber" moved into in Bretten

With the new delivery of the second edition of the T5 pocket wagons, the point had come where we could no longer leave the basement. That's why we moved into a 70sqm office in April/May, which will house research and development, quality assurance, and a small warehouse for goods and trade fair equipment. We're also creating desks and workbenches for up to four people. A lot of work (and capital) has gone into setting up the space. Since this is currently happening during ongoing operations, it looks a bit wild, but it's getting better every day, as more and more storage options are being created and everything can be put away individually. However, I'm missing two or three things that I packed away in one of the many boxes when I moved, and I'm not sure which one anymore. As soon as all the shelves are in place, I'll put up the workbench and three glass display cases. Next comes a larger version of a double track spiral (in the form of one that goes up to the right and down to the right), followed by four track levels with different rails and switch systems, from Fleischmann Profi Track to Märklin C-Track, so that the compact test circuits in our basement can be dismantled last. All of this, along with various test benches, will then form our endurance test benches for new developments.

Current development project for a double (pocket) car in the gauge...

...for 2026. We will then show everything together for the first time in Friedrichshafen.
